Buying Handmade Turkish Ceramics for Independent Retail

Handmade Turkish ceramics can add colour, texture and a strong sense of place to a retail collection. Before ordering, buyers should distinguish between decorative objects and functional tableware because their technical requirements differ.
Describe the intended use
Tell the maker whether a piece is intended for food, hot drinks, bathrooms or decoration. Ask for relevant care guidance and agree on dimensions, glaze appearance and acceptable handmade variation.
Approve a physical sample
Screen colours are not always reliable for glazes. A sample helps both parties confirm form, colour, weight and finish. Ceramic production involves drying and firing stages, so allow enough time for development and production.
Discuss protective packaging
Clarify individual packaging, carton quantities, breakage procedures and the final shipping method. Include the destination country when requesting a quote so that packing can be considered from the start.
